Rocket Singh finally fires up the engines!!!

Music review: Rocket Singh – Salesman of the Year (Hindi – Salim-Sulaiman)
The title Pocket mein rocket sounds terribly obscene, till you listen to the catchy, highly enjoyable song – it’s a simple, addictive tune and the choice of Benny Dayal is something the composers should be proud of – bang-on! Gadbhadi hadbhadi too is high on energy and Vishal Dadlani, in his tru style relishes singing the enthusiastic track – Salim Sulaiman get the perfect sound for this song. Pankhon ko turns the soundtrack into a somber mood – this is a beautifully soft and serene song with heartfelt vocals by Salim himself. Salim-Sulaiman succeed, even with a pocket-sized, 3-track soundtrack!

Rocket Singh: Salesman Of The Year

Director: Salim-Sulaiman
YRF Music
Rs 99
Rocket Singh is easily one of the most awaited movies of the year and its music hasn’t let us down. Although the movie only includes three tracks the CD has 12 bonus tracks from other YRF productions like Bachna Ae Haseeno, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Tashan, Chak De! India, Dhoom: 2 and a video of Pocket mein rocket.

The album opens with Pocket mein rocket. The song has some interesting lyrics and Benny Dayal’s confident vocals add to the track. A lot of the song has English lyrics and Benny sounds like some international artist as he croons them. With a great drum and base back beat and a catchy chorus you will find yourself humming the song instantly. Gadbadi hadbadi is fast paced and Vishal Dadlani’s coarse voice complements the track well. Pankhon ko is a slow acoustic number that is fresh and romantic; the type you can listen to on long drives. Last up is the music video of Pocket mein rocket that is very international in its look and feel.

Overall, Rock Singh is a great score with three very different tracks. Salim-Sulaiman and lyrist Jaideep Sahni really deserve a pat on the back for this one.
