Ra.One updated with gossip

In the wake of the success of Robot, Mumbai Mirror has gone on overdrive thinking up ways to create provocative articles about Ra.One- the latest being that SRK called an emergency meeting after seeing Robot/Endhiran!

According to favorite yellow journalist Subhash Jha, his "source" (aka his imagination) has said the climax of Ra.One will allow viewers to play the Ra.One video game in theaters as they watch the film and how it's never been done anywhere on the planet -- erm... it's called taking out your cell phone and playing Pacman like I do in Midget Khan movies. What's so innovative about this? :-P

The other bit of gossip he relays (who knows if it's true or not) is that Martin Walsh (the editor of Chicago) will edit Ra.One.

The ONLY REAL QUOTE Jha has managed to get is from the sound designer of Ra.One, Resul Pookutty, who says "The challenge with RA.One is to create a balance between the two distinctly different worlds of gaming and movies. We met at Shah Rukh’s home on Sunday and watched the film. And yes, we’ve come up with a number of strategies to make RA.One different from all other super-hero films." That's it, folks, the only reliable bit of info. The rest you should take not with a grain but a bucket of salt.

 RA.One goes international
Though known to be a perfectionist even otherwise, King Khan it seems wants to put all his energies in making his production RA.One, an international success.

Not too long ago, Shah Rukh Khan signed the pop icon Akon to sing one of the songs in the film. And now, the grapevine has it that SRK has signed German composer Hans Zimmer to work on the background score of the film. And if all goes well, this will be the first time Hans will be composing music for a Bollywood movie.

Hans Zimmer is recognised as one of Hollywood’s most innovative musical talents for having worked on super hits like The Lion King, Gladiator, The Last Samurai, Pirates of The Caribbean series, The Da Vinci Code, The Dark Knight, Sherlock Holmes and even the much-talked-abut Inception.

A source from the unit reveals, “Shah Rukh has roped in a lot of foreign technicians for his sci-fi flick.

He wants the film to be of international standards. It was his director Anubhav Sinha who suggested Hans Zimmer’s name for the background score.

Anubhav took the help of his contacts to arrange for a meeting between Hans and SRK. With time, Hans agreed to come on board.”

Apparently, Hans has refused several Bollywood offers in the past and this time, he has agreed to make an exception for Shah Rukh’s film RA.One.

You wonder if King Khan’s charms won the day.

Well surely, but the buzz is that Hans has been paid a whopping 2 crore just to compose the background music for the film.

For now, Shah Rukh and Anubhav Sinha remained unavailable for comment.

Veteran Confirms His Role In SRK's Ra.One

September 15, 2010 (Washington Bangla Radio / Pen Men at Work): Veteran actor Dalip Tahil, who is mainly remembered for his villainous roles in Bollywood films, is playing the owner of a game programming company in Shah Rukh Khan starrer sci-fi movie Ra. One.

Ra.One is Tahil’s first movie for Shah Rukh Khan's production house and the veteran is very excited as well as impressed about it. The name of his character is Baron, the owner of a Game Programming Company called Baron Industries.

Dalip was quoted saying that he essays the role of an obsessive, sinister man, who is good partially and is a very volatile character. Dalip shares screen space with other actors like Shahana Goswami and Arjun Rampal apart from SRK. Shahana is playing the principal of a school.
Sharing about how he got the film, Dalip said that it was an informal meeting with SRK at a friend’s place in London. There, Tahil mentioned that he hadn’t worked with King Khan after Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani and SRK instantly confirmed him for the role in Ra.One with his assurance.

Dalip, an admirer of SRK added that Shah Rukh is a very practical person and it’s always pleasure to work with him as he brings in all positive energy with him on the sets. Tahil said that the movie is almost equivalent to an international project when it comes to technology. The veteran actor sounded very involved with his role and said that he has finally got something to sink his teeth into.

Dalip's portion of the film has been shot in India and he will complete the shooting by the middle of October. Sources from the Ra.One sets have been quoted saying that audience will be stunned to see the look of Dalip in the movie. The actor also confirmed the news and added that it is kept under wraps till now. Tahil informed that he would look totally different from his real life and he doesn’t allow anyone to take his pictures.

SRK's suits in Ra.One worth a 100 crore

Nikhil Taneja, Hindustan Times

We guess he’s called King Khan for a reason. Everything about superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s next film Ra.One, which is touted to be one of the most expensive Hindi films ever, is being described as ‘king size’, be it action, music or budget.

And just when the media was digesting news that his superhero rubber suit in the movie will cost Rs 1 crore, SRK clarifies the real cost of the suit is much, much more. Says Khan, “I keep reading in the papers that my costume is a million rupee costume. But it’s actually a million dollar costume — that’s four-and-a-half crore rupees per costume. And there’s not one costume, there are 20 such!”

That puts the cost of just the costumes of the movie at Rs 100 crore, which reads like an unlikely figure. Khan carelessly adds that he was just talking about his character, G One’s costumes. “There are costumes for Ra.One’s character too!”

Khan also goes on to liken his costumes to that of Spiderman, “Like the Spiderman suit, my costumes are specialised. They are not for style – you can’t wear them to parties. But yeah, you could probably wear G.One’s designer T-shirts."

But when asked about the budget of the movie, Khan plays it down by shifting focus instead on to the ‘simple’ story of the movie, “Ra.One is a very real film, although it is in the genre of superhero-meets-genie in a bottle. I have tried not to keep it over-the-top or too ‘dialoguey’. It has real situations and authentic dialogue.”

Although he remains tight-lipped about the exact storyline of the movie, Khan gives us a sneak peak, “I play a very genuine South Indian character in the movie. I’ve been thinking about the poster of the movie and I think the film can be put in one line as ‘Every father wants to be a hero to his son’.

“So even though the film is about a superhero, it is also a family film,” he insists. “Kareena (Kapoor) is my wife in the movie, we have a kid and we are a regular family – there is a lot of comedy, happiness and bonding, until all hell breaks loose. And then, there is action, which you hopefully have never seen before, at least in an Indian movie.” We will soon find out.

SRK's Ra.One is making news for more reasons than one. Recently, the film crew was shooting an action sequence in London. The sequence has a jeep smash through the red double-decker bus. Reportedly, Shah Rukh Khan opted to do the death-defying stunt himself. We all know that Ra. One is going to be one of the costliest movies ever made. What about the costliest action scene ever made? Spare a thought!

Also, Karan Johar visited SRK on the movie set. It seems both of them along with Kareena Kapoor had an awesome time together.

Mumbai media is awesome - a visit by a director turns into taking over directing!! ROFL!!!

  14. Moral signs

    Simi Chandoke

Aday after Bapus jayanti what do we see on TV A lawyer (I will refrain from taking his name because nothing works like negative publicity ) who defended the only terrorist we had alive. It was still okay to have him on Bigg Boss until he came and glorified all the pro-terrorist cases he had defended in the past.If that was not enough, they got a dacoit on the show. Then they got onto Bunty the infamous chor who inspired a B town film and made him the captain of the house.Bunty the chor, claiming to Salman that the cops had fudged all the cases against him, seemed a little easier to digest after we saw the other participants. They had Rahul Bhatt walk in and it was rather unbelievable how he and Salman actually joked about David Headley. The guy is behind so many terror attacks and Salman and the show chose to joke about it.I doubt if Jay Leno would have ever done that. Then they had Veena Malick who, thankfully Salman called didi so the hope of her making it as an item girl opposite him is gone.Thank God.But seriously as Indians what values are we passing on to our younger generations What about the kids watching this show When my son watches them cracking jokes about Headley on Bigg Boss and the lawyer and Rahul claiming that they will discuss Headley on the show in the coming episodes what I am supposed to say to my son That it is okay to joke about the worst terror attack India ever saw.
When Salman got himself embroiled into a controversy about his interview to a Pakistani TV channel,I gave him the benefit of the doubt. He had hurt peoples sentiments when he said that the Pakistani government had nothing to do with the terror attacks and you know the rest of what he said.He and his family claimed he was innocent.Salman apologised and we forgave him.I wrote a column praising him for his performance in Dabangg and his care-adamn attitude. But now I think he really doesnt give a damn about anything except money.
Salman is being hero worshipped right now.And what he says and does can impact his young fans.To be getting chors, dakus and pro-terrorist people on the show and to joke about terrorists would send out the wrong message to the youth. It is an insult to all those who lost their lives. How must the families of those who died in the terror attacks feel when they must watch this show Guaranteed that they wont watch it anymore.
This also makes me wonder if Salmans interview to the Pakistani channel was all that innocent after all.He obviously knew by then that he was on Bigg Boss and most of the participants must have been finalised by then. That sounds really, really nasty that he could have been promoting this show through the controversy.Worse still if after hurting Indias sentiments innocently he apologised and then went ahead and made such statements on the first episode. The message is loud and clear.Paise ke liye kuch bhi karega. What is the point of Salman giving away money as charity to a few helpless Indians when you can destroy your integrity as an Indian citizen on national television All this for a few crores. If Salman is being human he is doing so at the cost of being inhuman.
Does participating in Bigg Boss make or destroy sagging careers Would Amitabh Bachchan have ever agreed to do the show with such terror elements involved You can watch all such controversies and more on Page 3 and Tentalize only on Zoom.Because it is hundred percent Bollywood.
