What failed Khatta Meetha

I read quite a few reviews posted here  these are the things which I think people complained about the most

1) Trisha, she seems like one of the major flops of the movie. according to all reviewers though she came late, and has little to do, she failed even in that. May be it was her acting, or the fact that she was in saree, I don;t know, but she was not accepted by anyone.

2) Loud dialog delivery again seems to be one of the biggest problem. For some reaon Priyan-Akki combo thinks loud = funny, anything if told at high pitch suddenly becomes funny. I guess they derive the idea from Umar Shareef, but for one, that was 90s, second, there has to be a content as well. Joke is funny due to its content, yes delivery matters, and yes, loudness can be funny at times, but not the way Akki-Priyans seems to be doing it without an iota of content.

3) Too many characters like too many cooks sometimes spoil the broth. With so many people shouting their lungs out, everyone trying to be funny, I think it just adds confusion, not funny confusion, just simple headache confusion. Whats going on, how, what where, why everything seems to make no sense. I think this is again a pitfall of Priyan-Akki combo.

4) It seems like Khatta Meetha is more of a serious movie than a comedy. So in a way audience was duped when they went in the hall. From the promos it promised to be a fun filled 3 hours with a joke on the corruption prevalent in India, but may be the movie is lot serious than this. As such the idea of serious movie is not wrong, but you can not cheat your audience, if someone comes to see a comedy, they better be served comedy, else they will go out complaining about the movie, even if its a decent effort, just because you fell short of your promise.

What you think went wrong with the movie, on the basis of your experience of the movie, and/or whatever you read in reviews.

  1. Also one more thing I feel is, Twitter Twitter is turning out to be a giant killer. WOM spreads really fast through it and it has an avalanche effect

People RTing reviews, comments etc. Also jokes about ripping something are always funnier, like "Khatta Meetha in Akshay's own words, BULLSHIT".

And also Twitter feed is there in almost every blog, so OFC it only helps in spreading the word even faster.

  2. Did Masand's Jackass comment and all that publicity kill Khatta Meetha?
