The verdant green landscape, the magnetic blue waters and the warm bright sunshine of beautiful Goa is home to one of the greatest magicians of his time, Ethan Mascarenhas. Presently hosting a Radio Show that spreads magic and hope and laughter through his irrepressible wit and humor to every listener and caller, it is difficult to imagine that this is a man who has been immobilized with a spinal injury for the last fourteen years of his life.
Ethan is aided through every moment of his present life by the epicenter of his world – his Nurse, Sofia D’Souza. Theirs is a love beautiful in its implicit silence, unwavering in its quiet strength and spirited in their constant verbal sparring.
On the fourteenth anniversary of his accident, Ethan decides to seek control over his own life. He makes a petition to the Court that shocks the world and leaves Sofia in an impasse that challenges their relationship and their love. Alongside all the tumult that follows, a young man named Omar Siddiqui bursts into Ethan’s world with a single-minded desire to learn magic from the very best. While on one hand Ethan passes on his magical legacy, on the other, he fights tooth-and-nail to demand the most basic right that every human being is entitled to – the right to his own life. The ethics, the morality, the kindness and cruelty of this mission creates a storm in all the lives that it envelops and its resolution forms the startling conclusion of Ethan’s remarkable journey.
Well, for one, its synopsis is actually I understood, unlike Kites.
And no doubt a good solid premise, but somehow I never liked the trailer, but wasn't it said that SLB was trying to make Prestige? Hmm, sounds like he actually did try for that in Guzarish.
Hrithik laughing at his inability to shoo away a fly on his nose gives an Anand kind of feel. "See what I see","feel what I feel","believe what i believe" with Hrithik on his wheelchair in one shot, walking on the beach in next shot and then again on wheelchair while juxtapositioning his present and former-self in continuous frames create a possibility of a dissatisfaction within the character. One can sense a conflict of the former and the present selves of Ethan in the flurry of flashes that is shown. The magic bits remind of The Prestige inspiration
The conflict most probably would end with Hrithik's request for mercy-killing(if the court scene is anything to go by).All in all, interesting!
Doga, like every SLB movie, even this promo was too confusing for me, as such wrong to make impression of the movie through trailers, but seems like the case to me.
Though SLB will try real hard to make people cry for HR I can bet my life on that.
Indeed, and in operatic style with every move studied and perfected. The styling was never an issue with SLB. He really should be directing operas in a mainstream venue - the dramatic moments and the looks can never be faulted.
Have to admit that the frames look super - and Aish in red and black is so beautiful. BUT Why is she doing a fusion of Flamenco and hip hop and why is Hrithik laughing at her dancing
Hrithik looks like a retard; I don't even know what he's supposed to be doing there.
Aish - rehash of Rani in Black, there is a huge similarity that I can't exactly pinpoint but reminds you right away of Black. Buddha statue from Sawaariya... WTFaridoon!
I don't even know what to say...
ReplyDeleteVery art house kind of a promo, not excited at all to see this one.
Hrithik dancing, laughing, trying to display all emotions, he looks too forced at times...
This looks plain horrible. I cannot even imagine how bad those wheelchair scenes will be.
ReplyDeleteThe magician shots look very very similar to The Prestige.

And BTW, SLB is one of the most over rated directors of India.

ReplyDeletePromo looks different, but then so did Saawariya. But Aish in a new look is interesting. Will wait for more promos before deciding.
hahahahah Rud
ReplyDeleteI have liked the promo, there are good chances HR will give an acclaimed performance.

Gosh, this song promo looks awful. It really does have a horrible Saawariya/Black vibe. Yuck!
ReplyDelete^^Oh and the music sounds just as slow and boring as well. Looks like another torture is coming from SLB.
ReplyDeleteI think SLB is the music director in Guzaarish. Can anyone confirm?
ReplyDeleteSLB is indeed the Music Director.
