  1. Iktara - I don't think was a sad song. It was serious but not sad.

The best sad song for me this year was title track of Kaminey.
Duniya though is similar to Duniya track of Pyaasa was the one of the best songs this year IMO. And Yaara Maula from Gulaal too was terrific.
    Yaara Maula song -

I don't agree with Tera Hone Laga Hun song, Aaj Dil Gustaakh hai and Dil Gire Daaftan. I would add Rehna Tu(Delhi 6), Shukraan Allah(Kurbaan) and Aaj Din Chadeya(LAK) to that romantic list.

    Dhamaka List -

Ahun Ahun wasn't good IMO. Chiggy Wiggy apart from Sonu Nigam was quite bad. Would add Fiqrana (Blue), Prem ki Naiyya(APKGK), Duniya(Dev.D), Pardesi(Dev.D),Barso Re and Shola Shola(London Dreams) to the list.

THE ONE, THE BEST OF THE BEST -

Agreed with the list. Dhan-te-Nan. obviously is the best among them.

Paayalia song(Dev.D) too is very good. Don't know to which category it belongs.

  2. I agree with you on Iktara, but still it seems more somber than happy, though not exactly sad. And I disagree on Chiggy Wiggy - I have grown to like that one quite a bit.

For me the BEST of the BEST is undoubtedly Aarambh, still gives me goosebumps.

  3. Chiggy Wiggy - I only like Sonu Nigam's part. Fiqrana and Rehnuma were way better songs in the album. Rehnuma, obviously being my favorite. :)

Agreed, Aarambh is a fantastic song. Even I have goosebumps whenever I listen to that line -
"Jis Kavi Ki Kalpana me Zindagi Ho Prem Geet, Us Kavi Ko Aaj Tum Nakaar Do"
"Jeet ki Hawas Nahi, Kisi pe Koi wash Nahi, Kya Zindagi hai thorron pe maar do, Maut Ant Hai Nahi Toh Maut Se Bhi Kyun Darein, Ye Jaake Aasman me Dahaad do"

Amazing lyrics. Piyush Mishra deserves an award for it if at all he is the lyricist of this song. I read somewhere that the credit for the lyrics goes to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh(RSS). So I don't know exactly.

  4. I refuse to follow Pardesi's format because as everyone knows, I enjoy being difficult. :P

My top 10, genre be damned.

    10. Dil Ibadat - Tum Mile

    9. Love Mera Hit Hit - Billu Barber

    8. Aaj Dil Gustakh - Blue

    7. Martaba - All the Best

    6. Jao Na - What's your Rashee

    5. Shukhan Allah - Kurbaan

    4. Massakali - Delhi 6

    3. Dhan Te Nan - Kaminey

    2. Su Che - What's your Rashee

    1. Rehna Tu - Delhi 6

Complaint for the Janitor-in-Chief: Why doesn't it let me edit? And why does it give me option to delete 40 posts? :D

  5. Too many goof ups here by the author :P
Any list of best songs of the year without Disco wale khisko is blasphemy.

    But here is my list

    1) Dhol yaara dhol : Dev D

    2) Duniya : Dev D

    3) Emotional Atyachar : Dev D

Dev D was a very different album with every song being top notch, these 3 stand out for me. Dhol yara was a romantic number, whereas Duniya was a bit saddistic, and a crazy song, and Emotional atyachar was a sad song, but a crazy song, something which should make every heartbroken aashiq sing and dance like mental.

    4) Tera hone laga hoon : Ajab Prem ki gajab kahani

Album as a whole was nothing special, but the way this song was used, made it stand out. Kat looked so good in this song, I just can;t get it out of my head.

    5) Disco wale khisko : Dil bole...

DBH had too many peppy songs, the ones you will enjoy in your car and discs, they were major fun for me, spl this one along with its remix version which had a trance sound to it.

    6) Aae aa oo : Billu

    7) Khudaya khair : Billu

It wasn't a special album per se, with ordinary lyrics, more focus was on the visuals, but these 2 were the songs of the album, and for me, 2 of the songs of the year. Khudaya khair was a classy romantic number with lyrics and music to stay with you for long, though it wasnt sung as well. Ae aa o, was a standout rockstar kinda song, with extremely high octane music, high powered lyrics, though ordinary, spl English verses, this has to be my pick of the lot. "Main jaaon jidhar bhi, yeh ambar yeh dharti, kahe mujhe pukar ke....." What can be better than this?

  6. 8) Dhan tana : Kaminey

    9) Raat ke dhai baje : Kaminey

    10) Fatak : Kaminey

Kaminey was again an interesting album from Vishal Bhardwaj, all these 3 were crazy good songs, full on masti 0 tensions. Fatak was highly elevated by Sukhwinder's and Kailash Kher's singing. Their voice takes the song to whole another level. Dhan tana has some real good music and singing, whereas Dhai baje is a little fun song.

    11) Ahun ahun : LAK

    12) Twist : LAK

    13) Chor Bazari : LAK

It was in a whole a very fun album, chor bazari was a lovely number, sung beautifully by Neeraj Sridhar and my love, Sunidhi. Ahun ahun was major fun since I am big song of its orignal Punjabi song, and it was mixed very well with Hindi lyrics. Saif's dance provided some serious laughs in the music video, however unintentional. Twist song is my fa, because I have seen so many nagin dance on this song, and if I compile those videos, it will be one hour video for sure. Must for every party.

    14) Delhi Destiny : 99

Very nice movie, very relaxed song, and it has Delhi in title, need I say more? :P Listen to it, its very nice.

    15) Aarambh : Gulal
It was a great album, some real nice songs, this one is my favorite for being so energetic, and Hindi in this song is absolute gem. So long it has been that I heard one complete Hindi song, eitehr it was Akki rapping, or someone singing meaningless English verses in bad accent.

    16) Shukran Allah : Kurbaan

    17) Kurbaan hua : Kurbaan

    18) Ali maula : Kurbaan

Kurbaan along with Kaminey, Gulal and LAk is one of the strong contender for me for the album of the year, all three songs have great music and all 3 have different genre of sorts. Shukran Allah is a romantic song, Kurban hua is more like in rock genre, whereas Ali maula is a sufi song. All 3 very very nice ones.

So, this is my list, and its so much better than Pardesi's, you don;t even have to mention it.

So, LAK, Kaminey, Kurbaan for me as albums of the year.
