Rockmelt Browser comes to Rock the Internet Age!

I am not a big Facebook/Twitter user, don't have an account on the later(just the website auto account) and barely maintain an account on the former, but just last week the beta version of the latest new entry in the ever increasing and competitive market of Internet Browsers happened - Rockmelt. It was available as an self-invite to FB users.

It can be found here, www.rockmelt.com

What holds instant attention is the fact that its coming from the same core family of people which gave us the first big internet browser - Netscape Navigator.(whose code source went open later, to be what today we have as the highly independent and successful Mozilla Firefox).

The Browser is totally targeted at the youth of today, who are neck deep into social networking, be it laptop, ipad, desktop, ipod touch or any other kind of mobile decive, the need to be connected to your set of acquaintances is more than ever now.Rockmelt just nails it here.

Now this is not the first time something like this has been attemped, couple years back a browser named "Flock" did come with features integrating some of Facebook and Twitter into the browser, but it was deemed to ahead of its time(though its latest release and update has met with great applause).

Rockmelt is based on Chromium core(the same one Google Chrome is based on).

1. When you first start the browser it tries to contact FB,

2. Then you log in your FB account(note, this procedure only happens once),

3. If you start the browser logged out from FB, your screen is just like a normal browser,

4. After logging in, what you get is a full-fledged single page destination to pretty much all your internet needs, the interface/settings is highly flexible, so an individual can personalize his experience as much as he/she can.

The timing might sound scandalous but within less than a week of Rockmelt launch, Firefox has also launched its newer experimental Firefox F1 Service which provides some of the features shown above,

How much success the Browser has remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure, its definitely going to make a big bang, either way.
