The National Awards – another controversy with Aamir?

Why was Aamir Khan’s production that was India’s Oscar entry not entered for the National awards?

From the nominations for the National awards
There’s more than that meets the eye as far as Peepli [Live]‘s exclusion from the National Awards is concerned.
When the awards were announced, it seemed like the country’s official entry to the Oscars was specifically ignored. Digging around, we found the film wasn’t even entered for the nominations!

Could it have been an oversight (highly unlikely, considering how particular Aamir Khan is) or did he decide to ban the National Awards (like he does other popular awards)?
The film’s director Anusha Rizvi says she is clueless why the film was not entered. “I heard it, too. And I have absolutely no idea why the film wasn’t entered.
I want to clarify that the directorate and the jury members of the National Awards have been unfairly targetted.”
But wasn’t Anusha the one who did not want to be involved in promoting Peepli for the Oscars race not long ago?

Got a chance to get peek into what went behind the vapid announcements of the National Awards last week as I inadvertently found myself sitting in the midst of a few jury members – no, am not naming them – at a bar, with that 1-2 combo that loosens thoughts and tongues: beer and peanuts.

They reminisced enthusiastically about the selection process from the 162 contenders, the all-time high number of submissions; they defended their decisions saying the voting process and discussions were fair and that not one member of the 11 in the final tier lobbied for any particular film; they feigned ignorance at the outrage of Dabangg winning the award and attempted making a case for it by saying that after all, the category is Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment, and the word ‘popular’ justifies it all. They rued that Band Bajaa Baarat missed the submission deadline, they were flummoxed at Aamir’s strategy of not sending Peepli Live (my theory is that he couldn’t care less to have a film win an award for a director with whom he’s had a massive falling out with), and they were conspicuously taciturn on Udaan.
