Malaika is a premier item girl, and of course Salman has never looked more dashing then he does in this film, with his pencil thin mustache! People think this rocking item number will greatly increase the footfalls in single screens, and that was always Salman's forte. I think there are many versions of this song prevalent in eastern UP and Bihar; they use to be sung in Nautankis.
ReplyDeleteYes, I too think this kind of song and tune was part of the folk singing collection! But I still prefer the Rani Bala version the most. Words are awesome.

Heard this song long time back. probably in 80's first time. And its a popular Nautanki song in central UP as well.
ReplyDeleteBy central UP you mean Allahabad? Because Kanpur speaks different dialect.
ReplyDeleteI have seen some of these nautankis in marriages. I am not sure they are still in demand or not, but in 80s they were in premium and people (village folks) use to travel long distances to listen to them.
ReplyDeleteMost famous use to be one Bijli Rani.
