Band Baaja Baaraat updated with some numbers

The film is stated to have cost 8-9 crore with another 3-4 cr spent on print and publicity.  As per Boxofficeindia.com reports "The film can easily fetch 7-8 crore for satellite rights today but they have not been sold as yet and if the film does decent theatrical business this figure could go 10 crore. A big run at the theatres then the figure can go much higher. Then you have the music and video rights worth 3-4 crore. Overseas may not give much as the film has a new male lead though the YRF brand name could help."  The film is releasing with less than 600 prints and Friday should give a good idea of whether the viewers will come out for this one or not!

  1. I just hope it is not a rehash of the Wedding Planner - otherwise it looks to be full of song dance and tamasha. If cost is low enough I think the film will recover cost and more. Anushka is continuing to improve as an actress, and seems good here too.

  2. I love Anushka but after Rab Ne, YRF has not given her anything useful. I hope she leaves them; will end up like Rani otherwise.

This Ranveer Singh reminds me so much of Ranbir Kapoor.

  3. Dont like the promo, dont like the hero, dont like the usual Punjabi overdose, music done here (only SRK and Yash himself coming can salvage that area now) only Anushka is good.

Movie will be cheap , should recover.

Hero reminds me of:if anyone remembers Hurman Baweja or Adhyayan etc.

  4. If he really looks like Ranbir, then Ranbir's future is also not good.

  5. Actually hero reminds me of a cross between Sonu Sood and some degraded version of Ranbir. The only thing that will salvage the film is if it is really funny.

  7. I was too willing to write this off but the following people are a part of the film:

    Habib Faisal (DDC scriptwriter)
    Aseem Mishra (OUTIM cinematographer)
    Amitabh Bhattacharya (Dev.D,Udaan lyrcist)

So I'm willing to not dismiss it completely.

  8. Habib Faisal is an Indian Hindi screenwriter and Director. He has directed "Do Duni Chaar", starring Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor which is under-production and is yet to be released. He has co-written Siddharth Anand's Salaam Namaste. He has also written director Shaad Ali's Jhoom Barabar Jhoom starring Abhishek Bachchan and Preity Zinta, and Siddharth Anand's Ta Ra Rum Pum starring Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukherjee. All three are Yashraj films. He is scripting Band Baja Baraat.

I have to say that except for Tara Rum Pum, I have liked all those other films - so there is hope. And the new song is not the same old Pujabiyat type!

  9. hahaha Doga, this is FS, you don't have to hate a movie just because it has some cultural flavor :D

Anyhow, I think it was a stunning trailer, from the use of color, to locations to dialogues, and not to mention uber awesome band baaja music, everything was so vibrant.

Who directed this movie? After Rab ne this is the first trailer which is looking so bright and colorful, and no, I don't mean Golmaal kinds :P

Brilliant trailer, hero is looking good, and acting well, Anoushka... what can I say about her.

I don't know how can anyone hate the trailer, punjabi flavor or non punjabi flavor, showing the spirit of youth, entrepreneurship, attitude, fun and still somehow deeply rooted in something as traditional as marriage...

Only YRF has the brain to come out with such a concept. A concept which is actually pleasing to middle class India, which has been forgotten by almost every production house, one of the toughest group of audience.

    Looking forward to the movie.

All I saw was Delhiness, which I am sorry to say, I LOVED :P
